late 1930's original and intact american machine age freestanding floor or reading lamp possibly fabricated by the general electric company. the telescoping incandescent lamp features a unique tapered and grooved "speed" ring enameled aluminum shade with ventilated socket housing. the shade is attached to a curved tubular steel arm that can be raised or lowered along the chrome finished, ball finial rod or pole. the weighted round base, lower stand and shade all retain the original anodized bronze enameled finish. original insulated black rubber cord, plug and in-line switch intact. the overall height is 58 inches.
