Description

original american art moderne late 1920's interior five-light flush mount interior ceiling fixture fabricated by or for the lightolier corp., jeannette, pennsylvania. the machine age electric fixture is comprised large of yellow brass with chrome plated finish largely intact. the aerodynamic pure-line concept of motion and speed developed from scientific thinking inspired the design elements used in everyday furniture and appliances during this period. the lightolier fixture readily embraces this concept in the form of curved lines, abstract geometric shapes, etc. the fixture contains maroon enameled cast iron "speed circles " found between the protruding arms. the flared top shade fitters are accentuated with segmented ventilated rings and ball finials. the keyless leviton sockets are nestled within the fitters. the stepped horn-shaped tiers conceal the central pipe containing the cord. original canopy intact. the five shallow bowl drop shades are simple, yet elegant, and compliment the fixture nicely. measures 20 x 12 inches.
