antique american interior residential ornamental cast brass residential passage door privacy latch thumbtwist handle with spindle and matching decorative escutcheon or backplate. the small lock handle was designed and fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. the hardware was salvaged from the extant david c. cook mansion, located in elgin, il. the hardware dates to 1886. used almost exclusively on the second floor passage doors. metallic bronze enameled inlay used to accentuate the casting detail. measures approximately 1 1/2 x 3/4 inches.
