original american victorian era black enameled interior residential fireplace grate and/or surround designed and fabricated by bridgeford & co., louisville, ky. the 19th century gas insert is bedecked with a multitude of neoclassical style design motifs. the protruding hood, fender and lower grate are original and intact. mostly uniform black paint finish with surface wear evident. salvaged from a chicago graystone residence. measures 31 x 24 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches.
