well-built original antique american industrial toolmaker or machinist solid oak wood tool chest designed and fabricated by notable cabinet maker h. gerstner & sons co., dayton, oh. the classic tongue and groove tool chest was designed to protect the delicate precision instruments of the factory machinists from damage and the elements. original green felt-lined interior largely intact. the fully lockable chest contains a movable front lid or recessed panel that stows under the drawers in the open position and conceals the drawers in the locked position. all original polished chrome clasps knob pulls and corner brackets comprised of pressed and formed steel. the original hand rubbed stain with lacquer finish remains largely intact. diminutive pull-out drawers original to the cabinet. the hand-stitched leather drop handle is nicely worn. measures 20 x 9 x 12 1/2 inches.
