original antique american black enameled cast iron interior commercial building cast iron newel post with slightly tapered cap. fabricated by the winslow brothers of chicago. the largely unadorned newel posts feature four-sided recessed panels. salvaged from a chicago commercial building built around 1921. the freestanding newel post measures 6 x 6 x 43 1/2 inches.
