unique american depression era hand-painted double-sided folk art detroit city corner store outdoor sign comprised of heavy gauge steel. the sign maker and/or artist is not known. the largely unadorned sign contains oversized black lettering against a mostly white background, accentuated with bright cherry red geometric shapes. the topmost edge contains a multitude of holes suggesting that is was either hung from a wall mount bracket or suspended from a sidewalk signicade. the hand-painted finish remains largely intact. expected surface wear consistent with age. measures 31 1/2 x 20 inches.
