original c. 1940's american machine age electric "sight light" table or desk lamp. designed and patented by leroy c. doane for the sight light co., deep river, conn. the unique streamlined style lamp features a weighted base complete with graduating circles and on/off dial switch. the slightly tapered and fluted pedestal is accentuated with embossed rings. the contoured light louver provides an abundance of glare-free, diffused light. the saucer-shaped aluminum reflector is attached to the bulb guard with three threaded screws containing tapped brass ball finials. the lamp was fabricated by the sight light division of the m.g. wheeler company. original lamp cord and plug. the metallic bronze finish remains largely intact.
