original early 1940's fully functional american industrial "utilight" machinist task lamp adjustable joint designed and patented by william h. woodward of detroit, mi. the refinished cast iron unique rotating joint is comprised of two circular friction plates interconnected by a single bolt, which with its nut, regulates the pressure mutually applied to the discs. a sleeve type socket receives the adjustable arms containing the light source and upright post affixed to the "swing-out" cast iron arm. the replacement task lamp joint was fabricated by the woodward machine company, detroit, mi. 2-3/4" x 3-1/4".
