one of two matching all original and intact refinished antique american industrial interlocking four-unit freestanding depression era "gf" transfer filing cabinet unit designed and fabricated by the general fireproofing company, youngstown, oh. the cold-rolled pressed and folded steel self-contained filing cabinets contain a brushed and sanded bare metal finished sealed with a clear coat lacquer. each spacious sliding cabinet drawer contains a riveted joint stamped steel handle and placard holder. the angled steel frames wrapped around the front and rear sides of the cabinets are secured tightly in place. the multi-unit filing cabinet was salvaged from the factory office of the roberts electric company, chicago, ills. the company specialized in the fabrication of components used on world war ii-era military aircraft. measures 13 1/2 x 27 1/2 x 49 inches.
