original c. 1910-16 antique american soda fountain chair designed by clement uhl for the toledo metal furniture company, toledo, oh. the chair has a folded steel frame with pierced steel seat. the open seat back consists of metal strips folded over and molded into a heart-shape, which flares outward to join the seat. there are four cabriole legs made of the same folded steel bolted to the circular seat frames. three strips of steel, pinched together in the center and flaring above and below, form the splats. uniform black paint finish. the chair is known as the uhl art steel "perfection" chair, number 151. structurally sound and stable. seat height measures 17 inches.
