original and intact american industrial early 20th century freestanding "fireproof" compartmentalized city of chicago courthouse filing cabinet designed and fabricated by the canton metal art company, canton, oh. the structurally sound and solid metallic filing device contains a total of 24 matching pull-out vertical drawers with spacious interior compartments. the distinctive drawers are outfitted with pressed yellow brass oversized handles and placard holders with the original (and highly desirable) oxidized copper or "tiger stripe" plate finish. the four-section "stackable" filing cabinet contains a mostly uniform olive green baked-on enameled (original) finish. the cabinet can serve many functions in a wide range of design settings. dates to 1909-1918. measures 50 x 32 x 17 1/2 inches.
