very unique and nicely worn early 20th century vintage industrial factory time recorder clock with original varnished oak wood cabinet. the hinged cabinet door retains the original clear glass panel. the patented mechanical clock contains internal time movements fabricated by the seth thomas clock co. the steel clock face has a nicely crazed and/or "chippy" paint finish with original hour and minute hands intact. the cincinnati time recorder company was engaged in the manufacture of several styles of employer's time recording machines during the first part of the 20th century. the cincinnati time recorder typically consisted of a clock (as shown above) combined with a printing mechanism on which employees record the time of coming to and going from work. as the recorder is entirely automatic and as the registration is a voluntary act on the part of the employees, all errors and prejudices in records for pay roll were reduced to the minimum. the system enabled the business owner/manager to obtain full and accurate records of punch in and out activity. the device measures 26 1/2 x 18 x 8 inches. clock is not in working order.
