exceptionally well-crafted and painstakingly refinished original c. 1880's american antique victorian era full fireplace mantel fabricated in the albert a. riley company workshop, chicago, il. the interior residential fireplace mantel contains a mostly uniform "golden oak" light varnish finish. the upper section retains the original beveled edge mirrors. the frieze and jambs are accentuated with grooved lines and circular rosettes. lightly incised floral motifs are found above the curvaceous corbels resting atop the ionic capitals. the antique fireplace mantel was salvaged from a chicago gold coast residence built around 1884. measures 60 x 12 x 81 inches.
