group of all original and well-maintained early 20th century decorative pressed or stamped wrought steel "loriane" pattern interior residential passage door hardware, consisting of four doorknobs and four matching backplates. traces of the original copper-plated surface finish evident. manufactured by the p. & f. corbin company, new britain, ct. the widely popular design was found throughout american homes beginning in the late 19th century. the doorknobs and backplates were salvaged from a chicago graystone residence undergoing demolition. the hardware features highly detailed anthemions, acanthus floral motifs and scrolls. backplates measure approximately 8 1/4 x 2 1/4 inches and doorknobs are 2 1/4 inches in diameter. priced for the lot. several matching sets available -
