seldom found early 20th century american vintage industrial "searchlight" universal joint factory bench machinist incandescent lamp bracket. fabricated between 1912-17 by the mccrosky reamer co., inc., meadville, pa. the intact and functional universal joint consists of friction disks arranged specifically to provide both horizontal and vertical movement. each joint retains the original friction washer. the amount of friction is regulated by a combination of screws and lock-nuts used to maintain tension at any and all desired angles. the arms of the brackets are made of solid steel. the machined disks are comprised of malleable iron. the rewired yellow brass perkins socket is clamped tightly into place. uniformly refinished. rewired with period appropriate off-white cotton cloth braided lamp cord.
