original early 20th century surface-mount interior city of milwaukee streetcar drop-down passenger stool designed and fabricated by the chicago hardware foundry company, chicago, il. the stool seat is comprised of solid maple wood that has been sanded and sealed. the spring-loaded cast iron bracket keeps the seat in an upright position when not in use. the metal components have been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. great overall condition. this type of stool, designed by chicago foundry, was intended for tight spaces including street cars, elevator cabs, locomotive driver's compartment and so on. only one available. stool seat measures 10 inches in diameter, bracket measures 5 inches.
