single early 20th century reinforced wrought brass oval-shaped oversized cow or cattle identification tag possibly fabricated by or for hibbard, spencer, bartlett & company, evanston, il. the c. 1920's weathered and worn plaque is double-sided with lightly incised or etched numbers highlighted with backed black enameled paint. the brass number identification tag retains the original wrought steel ring used in conjunction with chain (removed long ago). the steel and brass fittings have a nicely aged surface patina. multiple tags available. priced individually. measures approximately 2 x 3 inches.
