original antique american 19th century interior residential figural fireplace detachable summer cover or "fire-front" salvaged from a st. louis rowhouse demolished long ago. the ornamented square-shaped cover features the roman goddess diana with bow and arrow confined within an oval-shaped cartouche. the surrounding embossed elements include, but not limited to, bellflowers, ribbons and foliated scrollwork. the victorian era summer cover was fabricated by w. l. sharp and son co., steubenville, oh. measures 22 x 25 inches.
