c. 1926 neoclassical style downtown chicago dunham commercial building - d. h. burnham & co.

completion date for the dunham building was 1926. the architectural firm was d. h. burnham & co. the structure was nine stories and finished on three sides. materials for the facade included bedford stone on the first two floors, face brick for the next five and grey glazed terra cotta for the top story and attic pediment. the architectural treatment strongly resonated w/ neoclassical design. we focused our removal on the top floor or "penthouse". virtually untouched since built, the floor contained dark stained oak raised paneled doors w/ arched headers, hand painted oak ceiling beams and a massive 18 ft. limestone mantle elaborate centered cartouche and intricate leaf work. the other floors were recently remodeled, but the old cutler mail chute was still intact. we removed the entire unit intact -- from penthouse to lobby. demolished in the summer of 2007.
