massive c. 1920'a polychrome terra cotta art deco style building façade panel - richman brothers bld.
one of a kind unique art deco building panel removed from the old chicago richman bros. building located on state st. just south of carson, pirie, scott. the art deco style building was built in 1929. the architect is unknown. the terra cotta was manufactured by the american terra cotta co. the building panel has an incredible deco style motif, consisting of floral and fauna arrangements. the brightly colored terra cotta was often used by businesses to attract more customers. the panel rested a few feet above the building's roofline, flanked by decorative terra cotta banding or frieze panels w/ a similar design and color scheme. the panel measures approx. 5 by 4 feet. would make a really cool headboard, garden art or backsplash in a kitchen.
