daniel burnham's continental and commercial national bank building - c. 1914
the continental and commercial bank building was one of the last buildings built by famed chicago architect daniel burnham - in fact, burnham had passed away prior to the building’s completion. the bank building was completed in 1914 with a strong neoclassical design applied to both the exterior and interior space. the first twelve floors are being entirely “gutted” to make way for a new hotel. we saved several doors, slabs of marble applied to the hallway walls, light fixtures and highly ornate perforated elevator enclosures.
