late 19th century interior pantry victorian era pendant electrified gasolier - lincoln park residence




c. 1890's victorian era ornamental wrought iron and brass hanging gasolier or gaslight that was later electrified around the turn of the century. the hanging pendant was salvaged from a lincoln park (chicago, il) residence. the richardsonian romanesque style antique fixture features classical acanthus leaves with twisted iron wrapped tightly around the long arm. the gas key, in the form of a ring, remains intact, but the original gas burner was replaced with a on/off turn paddle edison socket. japanned finish remains largely in place. measures 40 inches in height. the fixture had been used in the home's pantry.
