original and fully functional late 1940's original brushed and sanded metal rolling and/or mobile chicago public library cart designed and fabricated by remington rand, library bureau division, elmira, new york. the mobile book cart is comprised of pressed and folded furniture sheet steel with all-welded joints for added stability. the top two tiers contains raised edges or rail guards. the original bassick swivel casters or wheels are comprised of hardened black rubber with steel forks and locking levers. the brushed and sanded metal finished has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. salvaged from a chicago public library. measures 24 1/2 x 18 1/2 x 34 1/4 inches.
