original and intact late 1940's american industrial illuminated "fire escape" can sign designed and fabricated by or for the western fluorescent light co., chicago, il. the interior vintage electric sign contains a pressed and folded steel "can" or cabinet containing multiple incandescent lamp sockets. the removable glass inset contains brightly colored orange lettering against a frosted white baked enameled finish. the steel housing has a largely intact painted red finish. the illuminated sign fixture was salvaged from the chicago athletic association building annex. multiple fixtures available. priced individually. measures approximately 17 x 5 x 8 inches.
