late 19th or early 20th century american victorian era interior residential varnished oak wood pier mirror or console designed and fabricated by the chicago grille works company, chicago, il. the gargantuan residential hall furniture piece retains the original oversized mirror. the turned and tapered opposed columns contain very detailed gesso or "plastic" ionic style capitals with volutes, anthemions and egg & dart trimwork. the crown or header features a centrally located intact applique containing foliated scrollwork and large palmette flanked by rosettes. the base features additional fanciful applique along the column bases and on the single corbel supporting the protruding bench. two matching consoles were salvaged from the same chicago graystone residence undergoing demolition. great overall condition, considering age. 1 x 5 x 8'
