Description

two matching late 19th century freestanding solid white oak wood interior residential columns salvaged from a chicago graystone residence built around 1895. amazingly, the original varnished finished, with allover crazing, remains largely intact. each column is slightly tapered with standard lock joint stave. plinth block bases original and intact. the ionic capitals with neoclassical design motifs are comprised largely of the wood composite known as "gesso." crafted by the the chrisop mantel co., chicago, il. each column measures 74 x 10 1/4 inches.
