two matching c. 1929 highly sought after vintage american art deco streamlined style interior residential green vitreous china lavatory pedestal sinks salvaged from a chicago residence undergoing renovations. the rectangular basin with curved lip aprons remain in excellent condition. the "hot" and "cold" faucets are comprised of bronze with a chrome plated finish. the indirect lift waste fittings are original to the sink. the wall mount brackets are included with the sinks. the finely turned pedestal legs with incised "speed" rings are structurally sound and stable. fabricated by the crane company, chicago, il. priced for the pair. each sink measures 24 1/2 21 x 31 inches. colored sinks first appeared during the late 1920's shortly after colored porcelain was perfected by the universal sanitary mfg. co., new castle, pa. kohler followed suite in 1927, offering six new colors: autumn brown, lavender, spring green, old ivory, west point gray and horizon blue. crane plumbing in chicago introduced a line featuring a total of eighteen colors in 1928. most of the colors were pastels, while more vibrant colors were offered in the 1930's.
