two matching c. 1880's original antique american eastlake style "crisscross" pattern interior residential recessed handle pocket door backplates. the backplates or escutcheons are cast brass with original baked black enameled inlay largely intact. two of the outer edges were modified (likely during installation), possibly to conform to the existing trim. fabricated by the p. & f. corbin co., new britain, ct. designed patented in 1883. measures approximately 2 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches. priced for the pair.
