sizable acquisition of historically important reliance building artifacts arrives...

urban remains has recently acquired a sizeable amount of meticulously documented original building elements removed from the historic reliance building after nearly 16 years in off-site storage. the majority of the artifacts found in storage were either replaced with faithful reproductions or were rendered obsolete under current day building codes during a lengthy restoration occurring in the 1990's. building materials made available include, but not limited to, elevator ironwork (fabricated by the winslow brothers), doorknobs, escutcheons and hinges (made by yale & towne), several crates of original and newly cast exterior terra cotta (the former manufactured by the northwestern terra cotta co.), nearly a hundred mahogany wood office, passage and utility doors and a few hundred interior ceiling fixtures (primarily of the "schoolhouse" type. over the ensuing weeks, urban remains will be utterly consumed in preparation, photodocumentation and presentation of these historically significant artifacts, made available on our website under a variety of categories.
