the bldg. 51 virtual museum website overhaul was completed late last week. the overall design of the new website and its treatment of artifacts was guided by the final layout of the softbound catalog that will be available for purchase in the coming weeks (we are currently taking pre-orders at the moment).
the 51 website will provide supplemental material (e.g., photographs, descriptions, etc.) not found in the catalog, which focuses more on presenting the carefully chosen artifacts through studio photography only.
additionally, the 51 website will offer the very latest museum acquisitions (beyond the catalog) that will serve to strengthen or increase the overall depth and array of historically important objects representing the rich and storied legacy of chicago's architectural past, found in each of the main categories created thus far.
