concurrent demolitions taking place along lake street in chicago

a late 19th century warehouse and a turn of the century hardware store along lake street (west of downtown chicago) are quickly being decimated by backhoes operated by two of the city's larger wrecking firms.
the presence of protests and/or picketing was absent when the steel claws began tearing down the structures. instead, the commercial buildings are quickly and quietly being erased from the urban landscape - likely to be replaced with condominiums and storefronts.
regardless of having little historic significance, i enjoyed documenting building characteristics i found visually appealing when the backhoes ceased operation for the day.
despite having little ornament worthy of saving, i'm pleased that the pallets of "chicago style" bricks and piles of enormous timbers are being salvaged for future use.
