several richly colored rare mid-19th century soda bottles acquired over the past month

i've managed to gather well over a hundred rare and richly colored soda and/or mineral water bottles dating to the mid-19th century over the past month. since the rapidity of bottle acquisition has made it incredibly difficult to populate the urban remains website with these great finds, i've included an image gallery below of the ones i've at least managed to photograph in the studio.

the majority of these bottles were not discovered by me personally. the few that were (e.g., cobalt blue "pony style" iron-pontiled w.h.h. soda bottle), have been added in prior posts, including the "howard johnson" dig site (in progress) located in the heart of downtown chicago.

the wide variety of bottles, both in shape and color, were discovered in privy pits in st. louis, boston, philadelphia, pittsburgh and chicago. the applied "blobtop" bottles are mostly iron-pontiled and were fabricated in glass houses along the east coast (primarily in pennsylvania). the embossed markings, allover crudities and richness in color are just a few of the factors that motivate me to seek out and purchase outright or search for these bottles in chicago privy pits. the gallery below offers a good visual representation of these distinctive characteristics.
