single "roaring twenties" antique american art deco new york city skyscraper wall mount "automatic elevator" cab or cat push button backplate likely fabricated by or for the otis elevator company, new york city, ny. the cast aluminum backplate contains two openings where the push buttons to signal the elevator were originally located. two richly colored faceted glass jewel indicator lights are positioned between the two holes. the words "automatic elevator" run vertically along the sides of the backplate. the fanciful raised "up" and "down" lettering is clear and pronounced. two matching backplates were salvaged from a new york city apartment building constructed during the 1920's. priced individually. measures 3 x 8 inches.
