hard to find and intact c. 1855 antique american privy-dug pontiled teal porter style soda bottle manufactured for joseph kennedy of pittsburgh, pennsylvania. the front body is heavily embossed with caseworn lettering that reads “j kenneddy / pittsburg” (note spelling of kennedy with extra 'd' and of pittsburgh without ‘h’). it is finished with a crude applied inverted tapered lip that features heavy whittling and slop, as well as long vertical bubbles running down the neck. the thick base is very shallowly indented and retains residue from the iron pontil. crudities are typical of its age and date of manufacture, including large bubbles, whittling, and minor discoloration.
