hard to find all original c. 1920's american industrial freestanding soap dispenser designed and fabricated for the procter & gamble company, cincinnati, oh. the slightly tapered edge clear glass globe reservoir remains in great shape, with the original baked blue enameled lettering applied to the front. the mounting bracket, retractable plunger and top cap are comprised of chrome with light pitting consistent with age. the antique medical soap dispenser was originally mounted upright against a sink near the faucets. good overall condition, considering age. william procter, a candlemaker, and james gamble, a soapmaker, both born in the united kingdom of great britain and ireland, emigrated from england and ireland respectively. they settled in cincinnati initially and met when they married sisters, olivia and elizabeth norris.[5] alexander norris, their father-in-law, called a meeting in which he persuaded his new sons-in-law to become business partners. on october 31, 1837, as a result of the suggestion, procter & gamble was created. measures 3 1.2 x 6 x 10 inches.
