stately 19th century american victorian era marbleized interior residential slate fireplace mantle salvaged from a chicago italianate residence built around 1879. the mantle's large opening is flanked by two matching finely turned spindles accentuated with embossed rings and lightly incised floral motifs along the plinth blocks. the skillfully executed faux marble grain finish remains largely intact. the beveled edge mantel shelf is original and intact. the two tone frieze panel with incised design motifs is free from cracks or breaks. likely fabricated by fischer, leaf & co., louisville, ky. measures 60 x 14 x 46 inches, firebox measures 35 L x 34 H.
