largely intact c. 1920's american hospital operating room "walter's" examining table fabricated by the frank s. betz co., hammond, ind. the medical table was considered a "midway" between the u.s. army folding table and the isaac's cystoscopic table. the top is comprised of 20 gauge sheet furniture steel formed over one inch flat steel. the frame is constructed with torch welded tubular steel with continuous post, connected to double "betzco" bracing. the walter table was designed for any and all regular positions, including horizontal operating, genito-urinary chair, gynecological and trendelenburg. the leaves are held in place by "quick-acting" ratchets. the friction lock is original and intact. the "whitekraft" snow white washable baked enameled finish was virtually non-existent due to mishandling. the table now contains a uniform brushed metal finish, sealed with a clear coat lacquer. measures 69 1/2 x 18 1/2 x 31 1/4 inches.
