refinished depression era american art deco streamlined heavy gauge furniture sheet steel furniture cabinet or dresser containing a chest of drawers. the brushed metal freestanding cabinet was designed and fabricated by the simmons mfg. co., kenosha, wi. originally founded as the northwestern wire mattress company by zalmon g. simmons in 1870, the simmons company was one of the largest producers of wire mattresses, steel springs and iron and steel beds. the very sleek and streamlined machine cabinet contains five pull-out drawers with original pressed aluminum drawer handles or pulls. the bare metal finish has been treated with a clear coat finish. measures 34 x 19 x 44 inches.
