early 1940's american vintage industrial heavily reinforced coal station machine shop workbench possibly fabricated by the lyon metallic mfg. co., aurora, il. the desk retains the original nicely worn and weathered rock hard maple wood tabletop. the angled iron base features a double door cabinet, single sliding drawer and ample knee space with undershelf. the surface mount hinges are welded firmly against the steel plate cabinet doors. the original factory green paint finish remains largely intact. the desk is structurally sound and stable. salvaged from the old fisk generating station, chicago, il. measures approximately 60 x 30 x 34 inches.
