original late 1940's vintage american industrial oversized mobile "hi-power" photo studio or sound stage freestanding fluorescent light unit fabricated by or for the photogenic machine co., youngstown, oh. the oversized streamlined style detachable light unit is comprised largely of aluminum with chrome band accents. the light box can be reconfigured or repurposed for use with a multitude of edison light bulbs. the mobile stand is very impressive, with distinctive cast iron base (a configuration used since the early 1920's with twin arcs) and swivel casters for easier mobility. the large light unit moves up and down through an intricate pulley system that is intact and fully functional. the fully adjustable brackets affixed to the backside of the light unit allow for flexibility in terms of angle or tilt, etc. the entire unit - both light box and stand - was carefully cleaned and brushed down to bare metal with a clear coat sealant added to prevent surface corrosion. very impressive industrial or commercial grade studio lighting unit. measures approximately 35 x 92 inches.
