refinished late 1920's fully functional american industrial stationary all-metal factory "self-closing" upright trash can designed and and patented in 1923 by james walker for the solar-sturges mfg. co., chicago, il. the heavy gauge pressed and folded furniture sheet steel waste receptacle contains a uniform brushed metal finish sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the medium-sized refuse can features a pyramidal-shaped hinged top for easy retrieval of the interior removable galvanized steel liner and/or rubbish. the trash can retains the original riveted joint yellow brass feet for added support and stability. great overall condition, considering age. measures 12 x 12 1/2 x 34 inches.
