Description
largely intact c. 1890's ornamental cast iron exterior residential freestanding newel post salvaged from a chicago residence undergoing demolition. the post contains two openings for tubular wrought iron or steel railing. mostly unadorned, with a ball finial top. nice rustic surface patina from prolonged exposure to the elements. base plate contains pre-drilled holes for anchoring into the concrete. fabricated by the dearborn foundry co., chicago, il. originally finished in a baked black paint. measures 36 inches in height.
