late 19th century antique american victorian era ornamental cast iron interior residential fireplace surround (summer cover) lost long ago) salvaged from a chicago graystone residence built between 1890-95. the unique firebox surround was fabricated by the dawson brothers, chicago, il. features a unique black and metallic gold enameled finish. nice protruding hood with fluted design. flanking pilasters are ornamented with acanthus leaf capitals. excellent overall condition.
height 30 inches, width 31 inches, interior height 25 inches, interior width 20.5 inches.
