unique c. 1940's vintage industrial "perfection" spot-lite candler manufactured by the perfection egg grader company, royal oak, michigan. the fully adjustable stand features a weighted cast iron base with deeply embossed lettering. the candler is comprised of steel with original yellow brass leviton socket tightly affixed to the backside. the on/off paddle switch remains in excellent working condition. the candler was designed to provide an intense narrow light beam with a prescribed focal length to penetrate dark shell density. candling is a method used to observe the growth and development of an embryo within the egg. it is so called because the original sources of light used were candles. the socket has been rewired. measures 5 x 7 x 17 inches.
