exceptional american art deco style jetson-esque single electric light table lamp attributed to the markel electric products co., buffalo, ny. the exact designed is not known. remarkably, the original patinated finish remains largely intact. the circular-shaped base is comprised of cast iron with a normandy bronze plated wrought brass cover plate. the leviton on/off switch was likely replaced at some unknown point in time. the lamp is supported by a chrome-plated bent tubular brass arm with intact swivel joint for adjusting the angle of the shade or reflector. the two-tone (i.e., darkened bronze and polished chrome) finish was a very common design element applied to this style of lamps. the uniquely shaped socket housing and bowl shade contain lightly incised "speed" rings. the topmost point likely had a ball and disc finial. unsigned. the lamp was rewired with period appropriate cloth cord. iconic machine age lamp. measures approximately 7 1/2 wide x 11 high.
