original and largely intact c. 1920's american antique medical freestanding twin carbon (arc) light floor lamp designed and fabricated by h.g. fischer & co., chicago, il. the lamp features an oversized shade enclosure comprised of sectional aluminum with fanciful star-shaped perforated heat vents. the model "m" arc lamp was one of many used in the "light therapy" craze during the 1920's fischer was on the forefront with a plethora of equipment and a circulating newsletter. the very unusual and adjustable three-legged cast iron base or stand has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. light measures 11 inches in diameter, 40 inches in height
