original c. 1880's american victorian era ornamental cast iron exterior residential stair baluster featuring a round medallion with deeply embossed lion face. the black enameled iron spindle was fabricated by the chicago ornamental iron company, chicago, il. exceptional both in design and execution. the chicago mansion from which the baluster was salvaged was demolished in the late 1960's. measures 35 inches in height.
