distinctive and all original late 19th century heavy duty hardwood and iron factory machine base with chamfered edges along the posts. the heavily reinforced "bolt-thru" constructed machine base has been sanded and sealed. the stationary four-legged base shows great surface wear and tear from decades of use. the exact fabricator is not known. the machine base was salvaged from an early woodworking factory located in grand rapids, mich. the hard wood legs and stretchers are believed to be comprised of elm wood. the wood machine base is structurally sound and stable. wood pair nicely with a thick plate glass tabletop. 40 inches x 24 inches x 27 3/4 inches.
