original and intact late 1940's american ornamental cast brass neoclassical style interior hanging chandelier possibly fabricated by the moe-bridges company, chicago, il. the distinctive six-arm ceiling fixture retains the original keyless hubbell sockets concealed with periord appropriate "dripping wax" candle sleeves. the heavily scrolled arms are accentuated with unique aquatic creatures. the fixture's body is comprised of multiple turned and tapered spun brass components, including a large ball with finial along the underside. the fixture contains a nicely aged surface patina. salvaged from the chicago athletic club annex building. original chain and ceiling canopy included. the 20-story prairie style chicago athletic association annex (also known as the chicago athletic club addition or "madison building") was designed by the notable chicago-based architectural firm of martin, garden & schmidt. the madison street landmarked high-rise was added to the existing 11-story neo-venetian style chicago club association building constructed in 1893 by architect henry ives cobb. the towering "gardenesque" style red brick and ornamented limestone annex was completed in 1907, with an additional eight floors added in 1925. together the two buildings form an l-shape wrapping around willoughby tower. the annex contained the famous "cherry circle" bar room, lodging, the crystal room, offices and a presidential suite on the 18th floor. measures approximately 31 inches high and 33 inches wide.
